When did the CCP begin... ...and where is it going?
The Centre for Child Protection was established by the Pontifical Gregorian University (PUG), the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising, and the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the State University Clinic of Ulm. The inaugural event was a symposium entitled ‘Towards Healing and Renewal’. During its pilot phase from 2012 to 2014, the Centre was based in Munich.
Structure and Organization
Though initially located in Germany, the Centre has been a part of the PUG’s Institute of Psychology, a component of the university’s academic structure, since its beginnings. The CCP was officially launched in Rome in February 2015 with an event called ‘Un impegno rinnovato. Il Centre for Child Protection tre anni dopo il Simposio “Verso la Guarigione e il Rinnovamento”‘ (Renewed Commitment. The Centre for Child Protection Three Years After the Symposium ‘Towards Healing and Renewal’).
The Centre is currently located at the Collegio San Roberto Bellarmino, a Jesuit residence near the Church of Saint Ignatius. It is a 10-minute walk from the central building on the PUG’s campus.
